About Us

The Garamond Agency is a full-service literary agency, founded in 1998, that seeks to add both intellectual and commercial value to our clients’ work. We primarily represent authors of non-fiction who are looking to reach a broad readership through the major trade publishers. We have more than sixty years of combined experience in book publishing, both as publishers and agents of award-winning and commercially successful books.

We work closely with our authors through each stage of the publishing process, first in developing their books and then in presenting themselves and their ideas effectively to publishers and to readers. We represent our clients throughout the world in all languages, media, and territories through an extensive network of subagents.

The Garamond Agency is a member of the Authors Guild.

Lisa Adams worked for publishers in New York and Boston for over fifteen years before she started representing authors. She was a founding partner of the Boston Literary Group, where she represented writers of both scholarly and trade books. Lisa is a member of the board of directors of The New Press.
